Schools
Overview
FBE Schools believes that the traditional method of education used in most schools is based on a system of oppression designed to maintain the status quo. To meet the needs of today’s children and society’s future needs, we must provide children with an education that fosters independence, develops problem-solvers, and promotes the importance of each individual’s contribution to the universe in which we live and work. We work with our communities to provide anti-biased and anti-racist Montessori schools that develop children who are lifelong learners, seekers of the truth, and fearless advocates for justice.
The Difference
According to Dr. Maria Montessori and the Association Montessori International (AMI), the first three years of life are the most fundamental in the development of human beings and their potential. It is a period when the core of personality, social skills, and human values are developed. An understanding of the child's development allows Montessori environments to meet the needs of the infant and foster a sense of belonging, independence, and language acquisition enabling children to feel able and capable. Montessori infant-toddler programs from birth to 3, are provided in several different formats. There are several characteristics that set our preschool apart from traditional schools:
Equity - Based
The FBE Schools are rooted in a commitment to an intentional focus on anti-biased and anti-racist practices and beliefs.
Community-Based
As with all of our programs, The FBE Schools work in concert with our surrounding community. We are a part of our community and our communities inform our practices.
Authentic Montessori
We provide a safe learning environment where children are free to learn through exploration and play. Learning is guided by experienced and knowledgeable teachers.
Independently Operated
Our school's autonomy allows for our families, faculty and staff to focus on what matters most - our children.
